Koleka Boyce
“A good leader has a more than average emotional intelligence. I have learnt that knowing self and taking time to learn my teams’ personas leads to strong bond formations and ultimately create high performing teams. I want to build a leadership brand where I put emphasis on taking care of my people wellbeing first, as people who are cared for take care of things (their work).”
Wandile Nyakama

“I am committed to be an effective leader, my leadership brand I will be known for:
I commit to build on the strengths of my team and encourage others to be a better version of themselves. I commit to be invested, compassionate and develop others. I commit to maintain building meaningful connections that will flourish and that will aspire others to be.
I commit to be a leader that allows my team to be forward-thinking, proactive and innovative by creating an open door policy for them to feel comfortable to share their thoughts and ideas. I commit to help them build on their legacies and provide clear objectives on what we want to achieve as a team.
I commit to use my creativity and passion for cooking to create an environment of freedom and opportunity to explore what we love doing. Most of all I commit to be a leader that leads from the heart and always remember to be constructive and provide meaningful feedback.”
Linda Purdon
“I, Linda Purdon, am committed to be an effective leader into the future. This will be the brand of leadership I will be known for:
I want to be known for being an honest, caring leader who really has her team’s best interests at heart. I want integrity and trustworthy to be the first words that come to mind when you hear my name. I want my team to know that I will have their backs, and that they can feel free to come to me about anything, good or bad. I want my team to feel safe to call me out if I am veering off the green path. I want to be the leader to work for, as my team members move onwards and upwards.
I want to achieve this by adopting the following leadership concepts into my personal leadership style – situational, transformational, authentic, servant leader and positive organisational psychology.
I need to make an effort to find my own strengths, and those of my team, so that I can help them become exceptional! I must take care to stay away from “me” or “my way” thinking.
I want to set regular team meetings that start with muffins and good news. I want to listen more, and talk less, as I have 2 ears and 1 mouth, and should use them proportionately.
I want to be known for making decisions through debate, transparency, logic and integrity. I want to make a positive difference.
I want to lead outside the box!”
Garrett Amm
“To build an effective working environment where my team is dedicated, motivated, has a clear understanding of our shared purpose and end goals and where each individual is held accountable and responsible to achieve their own goals for the team. I would like to instil the following clear actions on becoming the BEST LEADER for my direct team, where they want to come to work each day, knowing they are in a safe and workable environment.
Connecting:
– building relationships with my team, both personally and within the work place.
– making mental notes, (birthdays, work anniversaries, achievements, hobbies, religion)
– One on one’s, weekly team meetings, this is not just me talking to them, but allowing my team to speak up and voice their options.
Trust:
– Trust is earned and this takes time. Trust in me and I will trust in you, I will never be dishonest to anyone and always be open to my team. My team must never feel scared to come to me with anything, if they have made a mistake, let us discuss it and see how best we can resolve the problem together. This builds trust. I trust in my team that they will get the job done. I am not a person that micro managers people.
Invested:
You have my FULL commitment that I will have your back no matter what, we are all in this journey together and we will never walk alone, we stand proud and stand together. Your success feeds my success and vice versa.
To build a great team culture, I will live by the three following leadership theories:
Servant Leader:
I want my team to succeed, grow and move up in the organisation. I have an open door policy where my team can feel that they can call me anytime of the day & must not feel scared to talk to me. I am always here for my team no matter what. We are in this together and I will stand my my team through the good and bad times.
Authentic Leader:
Trust and honesty. I will always put my team first before myself, I will show compassion and care within reason.
Organic Leader:
Titles mean nothing to me. My team and I are all the same, I do not believe that I am better than you because I am in a higher position. I value my teams inputs and contributions they bring to the table. We learn from each other daily and I too can learn from my team, no one is better than the other.
We live in a constant changing environment, where we as a team need to adapt fast to the changes around us. I encourage thinking out of the box and bringing new ideas to the table that will ultimately set us apart from our competitors, and make us game changers.
NOW, WHO’S WITH ME!!!”
